We often feel anxious for small issues. “My boyfriend didn’t reply to my message, I am getting anxious”. “I don’t know how my future is going to be, I am anxious”. Does this sound familiar? Yes?
Society around us tries hard every day to infuse anxiety in us for a variety of reasons, and it is us, ourselves, who need to fight it back every day. It is an ongoing struggle for many of us, but here are a few ways to deal with your anxiety:
Give yourself time
You must have read this time again. Giving time to oneself doesn’t mean that you need to lock yourself in a room. Nope! Do something that makes you happy – it can be listening to your favourite music with a glass of wine, practising yoga or simply meditating.
Limit your alcohol and coffee
Caffeine intake can trigger anxiety and panic attacks as well at times.
Eat Well
It is very important to eat a well-balanced diet. Try not to skip any meal. If you have a hectic schedule and a taxing job try and keep some healthy snacks with you.
Plant the idea that you can’t control everything in life in your head
Put your stress in perspective. Simply question yourself if it is really as bad as you think.
Talk it out
Talking to someone really helps. Discuss it with your friends and let them know how you feel and how they can help you.
Try and be positive
Make an effort to replace negative thoughts with positive ones. This might sound like a cliche but it takes a lot of effort to keep yourself positive.
